This bread is absolutely delicious! I made it for St. Patrick's day, and it went perfect with the corn bread, potatoes, and cabbage! What a meal! If you'd like to know how easy, and tasty this bread is, read on!

INGREDIENTS:
1 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour
1 3/4 cup of all purpose flour (you can either make it all whole wheat, or all purpose flour, it is up to you)
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2 tablespoons of cold butter (I like to grate it, much easier to incorporate)
1 egg
1 2/3 cup of buttermilk (if you don't have buttermilk on hand like myself, then you can use regular milk and add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or regular vinegar)
A handful of oats
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit
Sift all of your dry ingredients together in a stand mixer bowl (or you can do it by hand)
In a seperate bowl, beat the egg in the buttermilk
Make a hole in the middle of the dry ingredients and add in the wet ingredients
Mix it until it all comes together
On a floured surface, place the dough and bring it together, there is no need to knead the dough
Take a baking pan and place a baking sheet or parchment paper and place some flour on top of it
Place your dough on the baking sheet and slightly flatten the dough, making it approximately an inch and a half thick
Make a cross on the dough with a sharp knife
With the extra liquid from the buttermilk bowl, place that on top of the dough to get a beautiful golden color while baking
Place some oats on top of the dough, and it's ready to bake!
Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit, then bring the temperature down to 400 degrees and bake for an additional 30 minutes
The bread will have risen beautifully and will make your whole house smell like a beautiful bakery
Enjoy with some butter, or cream cheese for a nice, small breakfast!
