Okay, so truth is, I'm a little obsessed with Asian soup. Maybe a lot more then a little. Wonton soup is one of my absolute favorite soup dishes! If you want to learn how to make this soup, read ahead!!

INGREDIENTS FOR WONTON FILLING:

  • 1 packet of dumpling wrap

  • 1 pound of grounded turkey

  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch

  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic

  • 1 tablespoon of minced ginger

  • 1 tablespoon of minced jalapeño

  • 1 teaspoon of ground pepper

  • 1 tablespoon of scallions

INGREDIENTS FOR BROTH:

  • 8 cups of vegetable or chicken broth

  • 4 cups of water

  • Soy sauce to taste

  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil

  • 3 big slices of ginger, with the peel (the peel has incredible flavor for the broth)

  • 4 pieces of scallions, unchopped

  • Pepper to taste

  • 4 cups of mushrooms, sliced

  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon of chopped ginger

  • 1 teaspoon of chopped jalapeño

DIRECTIONS:

  • Let's first assemble the broth!

  • First, add in some canola oil, soy sauce, and sesame oil

  • Add in the mushrooms

  • When the mushrooms are cooked, add in the garlic, ginger, and jalapeño. Cook until fragrant

  • Add in the broth and water. Bring to a slight boil. Also add in the pieces of unchopped ginger and green onion

  • Bring the broth to a simmer

  • Let's get the wontons ready!

  • Combine all the ingredients listed below the wonton filling ingredients, mix it all with a fork until everything is combined

  • Take a cup of water, you're going to need to dip your finger into it. Below I will attach a link to YouTube so you can know how to fold them, for it would be easier instead of typing it to you

  • Wonton Folding

  • I have yielded 38 wontons. After folding your wontons, we are ready to add them to the soup!

  • Make sure your broth is on a light boil, then carefully add a wonton one at at time. It should take around 7-10 minutes for it took cook thoroughly. Take one and check if the meat and wonton wrap are fully cooked

When cooked, add in additional scallions for garnish. The wonton soup is done, and ready to enjoy!
